The Use of Gamification in Enhancing Students Engagement and Performance in ESL Speaking Lessons

Malaysian second language learners are often passive in English classrooms. Today, not only is largely used for communication purposes the physical world, it extended to virtual world too. Thus, pivotal educators enhance students’ tendency and confidence speak English. This paper discusses importance of being able converse English, factors which hinder secondary participation during speaking lessons, proposes use gamification promote active among upper students A pilot study was conducted using qualitative (classroom observation interview) method, convenience sampling. Ten were selected at random partake one group pre-post test experiment, sampling sort them into pairs. Five randomly interview session. Based on findings study, observed that more engaged lesson when applied. In addition, responded positively how has helped become lesson. By implementing seen as effective enhancing overall engagement their sessions. The recommends teachers incorporate all four skills (speaking, reading, listening writing), Grammar vocabulary lessons.
